As your child makes the move from being a child to being an adult, they may face influences that can lead them into trouble. The Avoiding Adolescent Problem Behavior section provides strategies for helping your teen make good decisions when he or she gets into an uncomfortable situation.

HIV/STD and Unintended Pregnancies

As children develop into teenagers, many of them get interested in sex. This is a normal stage of development, however teens may face major risks such as HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and unintended pregnancies if they are not prepared to make healthy decisions with regards to sex.
